SQL Server Download Port

Configure a Server to Listen on a Specific TCP Port

The SQL Server Download Port Database Engine to listen to a specific static port by using SQL Server Configuration Manager. If enabled, the default instance of the SQL Server Database Engine listens to TCP port 1433. The named instances of the database engine and SQL Server Compact are configured for dynamic ports. This means that they have specified an appropriate port when the SQL Server service starts. When you connect to a named instance through a firewall, configure the database port to listen on a particular port, thus opening the appropriate port in the firewall.

Because port 1433 is a known standard for SQL Server, some organizations indicate that the SQL Server port number must be changed to increase security. This can help in some environments. However, the TCP / IP architecture allows the port tester to query for open ports, so changing the port number is not a valid security procedure.

When specifying a port number, see https://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers for a list of port numbers assigned to some applications. Select a specific port number. for more information. The default dynamic TCP / IP port range has been changed in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008.

When you restart the Database Engine, the listening starts to a new port. However, although the SQL Server Browser service monitors the log and does not use the database engine, it reports the new port number when the configuration changes. Restart the database engine to ensure consistency and avoid connection errors.

Noticeable SQL Server Download Port

In the TCP / IP Properties dialog box, the IP Addresses tab displays several IP addresses in IP1, IP2, and IPL. One of them is the IP address of the loopback adapter, (You are likely to see both IP addresses version 4 and IP version 6.) Right-click each address, and then click Properties to specify the IP address that you want to configure in SQL Server Download Port.

If the Dynamic dialog box in Ports TCP contains 0, delete the value 0 which indicates that the Database Engine is listening to the dynamic port. In the IPn Properties box, in the TCP port box, type the port number that you want this IP address to listen to, and then click OK. Multiple ports can be separated by a comma.

If the Listen To All setting on the Protocol tab is set to Yes, only the TCP dynamic port and TCP port values are used under the IPAll section, and all IPn partitions are not fully considered. If the Listen to All setting is set to No., TCP and TCP Dynamic settings will be ignored in the IPAll section. Instead, the TCP Port, TCP Dynamic, and Enabled settings are used in individual IPn partitions. Each IPn partition has an active setting with the value "No" by default; this causes SQL Server to ignore this IP address even if it has a specific port.

Connectivity SQL Server Port

After you configure SQL Server to listen to a specific port, there are three ways to connect to a specific port by using a client application: Run the SQL Server Browser service on the server to connect to the instance of the database engine by name. Create an alias on the client by specifying the port number. The client program is to connect by using a special connection string in SQL Server Download Port.
